The city is one that speaks to a sense of shift in terms of both time and place in the world. Particularly when there is a burrowing sense of culture, looking deeply into the past and reformatting to play in the present, there is a sense that things are always changing in Tel Aviv. Hotels are able to offer the height in luxury and comfort, and relaxing is a given. But so is energy, and the energy here is rather infectious.
It’s not a sudden change that brings the cultural scene here to a height, where flurries of activity take place in pockets that are seen and hidden throughout the urban landscape at night. It’s been like this for a long time, but the rich and innovative contributions from artists like Lior Lahav are cutting edge and to the moment, giving the sounds an urgency that is entirely compelling.
The appeal is easy to understand. Here, the sound of a beach hotel that will accompany the dreaming, and new electronic trance music to help make the waking hours more gorgeous, is something that calls to the international traveler in everyone. His project Solar System takes the stylings to new levels, and in other directions, so that time is not what it used to be, and place is the exact center of the universe. On a good night, it certainly does seem like that could be Tel Aviv.
