Carbon fiber (alternatively called carbon fibre, graphite fiber, graphite fibre or carbon graphite) is a material consisting of extremely thin fibers about 0.005–0.010 mm in diameter and composed mostly of carbon atoms.
The carbon atoms are bonded together in microscopic crystals that are more or less aligned parallel to the long axis of the fiber. The crystal alignment makes the fiber very strong for its size. Several thousand carbon fibers are twisted together to form a yarn, which may be used by itself or woven into a fabric.
Carbon fiber has many different weave patterns and can be combined with a plastic resin and wound or molded to form composite materials such as carbon fiber reinforced plastic (also referenced as carbon fiber) to provide a high strength-to-weight ratio material. The density of carbon fiber is also considerably lower than the density of steel, making it ideal for applications requiring low weight.
The properties of carbon fiber such as high tensile strength, low weight, and low thermal expansion make it very popular in aerospace, civil engineering, military, and motorsports, along with other competition sports.
Many high performance wheel and tire package companies are now making carbon-fibre rims with each of them weighing about 9lb less than an equivalent alloy wheel. Check with a tire dealer when looking for tires and rims for your vehicle.

There are no comparisons to the thrilling city than that of New York. A dynamic, inimitable mix of world cultures, skyscrapers towering over each other and colorful neighborhoods. Visitors from around the world arrive by the thousands every single day. One does need to consider if a medical issue comes up what and where to get the best care. New York is known throughout the world for it’s superb Medical Facilities, in which is the reason hundreds of those thousands visiting New York come to get the best treatments offered by the best doctors. Expensive, yes, but that doesn’t stop people who can or can not afford it from flying in and stay at a New York USA Hotel.
One of the best University Hospitals is located in the heart of New York City, NYU Langone Medical Center. One of the Nation’s premier centers for excellent Health Care, biomedical research and medical education. This Medical Facility has over 50 centers, 30 academic departments and approximately 380,00 square feet of research laboratories. A few discoveries have led to Nobel prizes. NYULangone boast it has the best interdisciplinary clinical research that addresses 21st century biomedical science. Another well known Medical Facility is Mount Sinai school of Medicine. With over 300 programs, departments and clinics, Mount Sinai offers a wealth of clinical services. It is the first to describe numerous disorders such asTay-Sachs Disease, Churg -Strauss Disease and Collagen disease. So, if you have some ‘mysterious’ condition that your regular doctors just dismiss as being in your mind and don’t even offer any help or solutions. Don’t get discouraged, Mount Sinai has the doctors, the facilities and the means to help figure out what you have and cure it or at least begin to find a cure. Mount Sinai is also the first in Geriatrics and Adult Development and the first in blood transfusions with compatibility tests to point out that blood groups are hereditary.
I’ve only mentioned two of the top-notch medical facilities that New York has to offer the entire world population. When one talks about the brain drain of doctors at all the other great major cities of the world, they are also taking note that those doctors end up in New York. It is because of the well funded research facilities that cause the brain drain. Yes, these other countries do suffer from the lack of qualified doctors and miss out on the knowledge the research departments develop and discover in New York’s medical facilities. There are cheaper medical facilities around the world, but non so qualified to take the best care of the ones you love as the ones in New York.

Smaller art venues are the hidden treasures of Barcelona. When you find one, you almost want to keep it a secret because you feel it’s your own personal pleasure. Many can be found not far from Top Barcelona Hotels or nestled in the nearby suburbs. Most people, when in Barcelona visit the Picasso Museum or the Museum of Contemporary Art and miss out on the local artistic talent. Miss out on a chance to actually meet and talk with the artist. Even visiting the local coffee shops in and around Barcelona can be considered an art venue in that they display original art from local talent.
Of course, one must visit the major museums, after all, isn’t that what Barcelona’s all about? But, at least put aside one day to search for those smaller venues. Ask the people sitting in the coffee shops if they know of an off-the-beat art gallery or venue. Ask the wait staff at the local restaurants if they have a favorite art place to take their dates. Or just explore on your own. No guided tour; be as creative as an artist, and who knows, maybe you’ll discover a piece of art that inspires you soul and touches you deeply.
When you do find an art venue which you adore purchase a piece. Even though, as I mentioned earlier, you want to keep it your special discovery, blog about it! We need to support all local art, support all local artists. This will help keep art new and fresh. Always moving, always exploring and always keeping the peace. Just like music transcends conflict, art does too. With the economy in the slump, we still need to patron and support art. Art is usually the first thing to be cut in the budgets of schools and in government grants. Barcelona’s government does a wonderful job in supporting it’s artist community, but we need to step up and do the same.

Musee D’Orsay, Le Louvre, The Roland Garros French Open Venue. All places where legends have walked. Whether these legends paint in oils or mold clay, all descending on Paris are artists in their own right. The French Open brings the ‘clay specialists’ of tennis to the City of Lights from May 24- June 7.
Under the lights of the Paris skyline Rafael Nadal has made the red clay his forte, winning four consecutive titles, joining the company of Bjorn Borg and 1920s tennis princess Suzanne Leglen.
For the few who have had success on the clay, there are many more that have found it to be their nemesis. The French Open is the only major title that has eluded Roger Federer, and Nadal is looking to keep it that way.
With Justine Henin’s retirement leaving her unable to defend her title in last year’s open, Anna Ivanovic, number seven in the world, took the clay court title and will do her best to defend it.
Don’t count out Serena Williams, whose number one ranking was currently lost at The Australian Open to last year’s French Open runner up Dinara Safina.
On the men’s or women’s red clay courts, the competitiveness of the 2009 French Open will be at its peak. The Open could be a place for revenge, for Federer and Williams or continued prosperity for Nadal and Safina. Nonetheless, The French Open and the bright lights of Paris are for legends, all artists, each working in their own way.

The city of Goa is set apart of the rest of the country of India, sitting in stark contrast as a result of the rich history and cultural heritage. Goa is the city of India that is the most unique. One notices upon visiting with the people on the streets and in the best hotels, Goa is diverse, all the diversity is held important. No religions are more important than the others. Everyone is accepted for who they are, regardless of their belief systems. Traditions are followed and respected in Goa, and they still remain to be the city known to be ahead of the trends of the times. And just as with all those comfortable with who they are, and who they are not, the culture is very relaxed and easy going. No fights are inspired by religious discussions or the color of someones bandanna . All lifestyles are accepted and encouraged and supported. This is not true for most of the rest of the country, where conservatism and tradition is just part of life.
Music is the essence of the culture in Goa. Music is a dominant aspect of life for everyone living in the city. While Indian music is listened to, many find Western music most enjoyable in all forms, from techno to trance, to Blues and Jazz and Country. Just about every citizen plays a variety of instruments. Musicality seems to run through their veins. It is not uncommon to witness someone just break into a song on hot day, for no particular reason what so ever. Much of the music here is from Portugal, which is due to the rule by the Portuguese at one time. The cultures have taken on a bit of each other’s cultural and musical heritage.
This cultural diversity and heritage gives Goa so much to offer to the rest of the world. One may notice while walking through the city a broken-down shack sitting aside a luxury hotel, and notice that the owners of the two buildings are outside having conversation and sipping a drink. Both lend charm and are a necessary component to what makes the city so incredible as a whole. There are less restrictions put on women in Goa, they are very confident women who have, and who are “allowed” to have, their own independence. This is one harmonious and delicious city.

As people are becoming more accustomed to the idea of traveling to obtain good medical care, finding the right hospital and doctor for you is of the highest concern. Companies that are involved in medical tourism are designed to help you locate exactly the right medical practitioners who will receive information such as X-rays and diagnoses as well as guide you to cutting edge hospitals with the best technology for your specific surgery.
Why are patients traveling to obtain medical care that they could easily find in their own country? Because abroad it can be so much cheaper. Consider lap band surgery abroad in Mexico. Here the costs are often more than 50% less than in the United States for surgery, hospital stay, and recovery. Once you are discharged from the hospital, you then can enjoy the additional benefit of a local beach or an interesting town or city to explore. Cheap knee surgery in India, where the doctors are also exceptionally trained, offers patients the opportunity to enjoy a fascinating vacation after recovery. All at a fraction of the cost that one would find a North American setting.
Whatever your surgical needs are, traveling abroad to undergo a procedure is no longer daunting or worrisome with the experts who can guide you through the process.

Chennai, the state formerly known as Madras, India has an expansive economic base. It’s been established as the center for electronics manufacturing and software services for many years. More recently, healthcare and the financial services are making a huge contribution to the GNP.
However, it is the healthcare industry that was the topic of discussion recently at a Tourism Conference. Chennai is the base of the Apollo Hospitals group, one of the largest healthcare providers in the world. The hospitals are privately owned and are widely known for having the finest health care services in India, and perhaps in Southeast Asia. Nowadays, Chennai has been solidifying its position as the health capital and as such is attracting medical tourists from all over the world. Health Care Tourism, a term created by the travel industry, describes the growing practice of seeking healthcare in other countries. Of particular importance to patients is the cost of the healthcare and the expertise in specialized fields. Because of the variations in the officially recognized qualifications vary, it is critical that a patient does due diligence prior to scheduling any surgeries. Some of the more common surgeries performed are Gastric Banding, Hip Resurfacing Surgery, Shoulder joint replacement as well as many types of cosmetic surgeries.
India’s tourism department has held conferences recently to discuss a new strategy for converting the visiting patients and their families to visitors and tourists of the country. One way of doing this is for hospitals and the medical community to join forces with the tourism department to court the patient at every opportunity. As a means of positioning the health care providers as giving the best value in services, great strides are being made to be competitive with costs. In addition, medical staff, doctors, nurses and medical assistants are being trained to meet very strict and challenging standards. The medical job community must be persuasive when discussing the medical options for a hospital stay and need also discuss possibilities for recuperating in the country. There are many luxury hotels Chennai that are working in tandem with the tourism department to encourage this endeavor.

Just a few days ago a new policy took affect in many of the public housing, the apartment buildings and the New York business hotels..Rottweilers, Doberman Pincers , and pure bred Pit-Bulls, as well as Pit-Mixes are banned from the buildings. The reasoning is that these dogs reach a full grown weight of more than twenty-five pounds. Those who are already living in the buildings will be able to keep their pets, as long as they have the current city registration permits. However, new tenants, and new dogs are not allowed. Although not much has been mentioned in the media of the two breeds, the Rottweilers and Dobermans, and any attacks on humans, the Pit Bull has certainly had the lime light. One tenant went so far to ensure other residents that when she had her dog neutered, she also had most of his teeth removed, even though he had never shown signs of aggression. ? The woman owns a miniature Doberman, that weighs in at about 7 pounds. She stated that she thought the ban was a good move forward as Pit Bulls tend to look at other dogs as though they ‘want to eat them’. ? Obviously passions in the city of Manhattan have been stirred.
Dog lovers in the city are stating that this is a kind of profiling maneuver, that punishes the dogs, and the owners of good dogs, for those that are mistreated or used for fighting purposes. Many other dogs outweigh these breeds, Golden Retriever can reach upwards of 150 pounds, however they are not banned. As an owner of a Pit-Mix, this writer can only state that this dog is not harmful, nor is the owner a ‘gangster’. Just someone that walked into a rescue shelter and had her heart melted by a sad puppy. However, the gang lifestyle and culture surrounds the projects and the public housing developments, and it is something to be considered. This writer and her dog have been attacked three times, by pure bred Pit-Bulls with irresponsible owners. And while most proclaim that it is the owner and the way in which the dog was raised, there are just too many youngsters or promoters of the aggressive aspects of the dogs for them to exist in an environment that proves safe for those living in the surrounding apartments and vicinities.
